With temperatures on the rise, here are the 3 essentials worth bringing along on your next summer jaunt.
When the temperature rises and the air conditioning unit can’t keep up, as counterintuitive as it may be, sometimes the best way to relieve the stress of a hot day is to get out of the house. Whether you’re planning to hang out at the beach with friends or having a picnic at the park to people watch, cooling off is a major priority. While there are the obvious basics like water to keep hydrated and sunscreen to keep the UV rays off, there are a number of less common essentials that definitely enhance your enjoyment during these summer excursions.
Parasols and Umbrellas

Use it at the beach, use it at the park, use it while you’re walking the dogs, an umbrella or a parasol really is the most underrated summer essential out there. It’s portable shade doubles as a shield against any stray sprays of water at the pool. You know, when people think it’s funny to splash water on you. UV umbrellas are preferred when expecting a particularly high UV index but if that’s not possible, something brightly colored and portable works too.
Fans

Ditch the electronic fans and pick up a traditional hand fan to fan away smoke from bonfires or barbeques. Or when you get sunscreen on your face and you want it to dry quicker. Hand fans are a particular favorite because you don’t have to worry about having to run out of charge and it’s way more portable than the electronic kind.
Facemasks
This is an essential in a post-pandemic world, and even more so when you realize that you haven’t been eating quite as healthy as you should be. Pop a vitamin C gummy and a facemask before you leave the house. And if you don’t want to wear face masks, a handkerchief also works, just make sure to keep it up when you’re in really crowded places.
A number of these essentials seem more common sense then not, but when in a rush, we often forget even the most simples things so it’s great to be reminded of these basics from time to time. And remember, stay safe and stay prepared especially when heat waves are anticipated to hit during your jaunts.
